James Burns served in the Royal Artillary 1914 to 1918 World War. He joined at Newcastle Upon Tyne in May 1914 and his service included France but battle is unknown at present.
He worked with the large guns and the horses in harsh circumstances as all the men did. He died in 1953 of stomach cancer. Probably due to the free woodbines which were handed out by the Government at that time.
