1. I dont know when he was diagnosed exactly, but his brain injury was very severe and when he died in 1953 he was receiving treatment for Epilepsey. His son through an industrial accident at 18 years old received treatment for this too in the 1940’s for a head injury. From family history the treatment was quite barbaric electric shock treatment and cold baths. All patient were treated at a mental hospital because the understanding of the condition was not fully understood by medical professionals.

  2. I understand that Epilepsy as a neurological condition was still treated like a mental illness, and in fact, many people were institutionalised not gaining their independence until the 70’s Terrible!
