Please feel free to comment on this draft. Although we are researching how men were treated on not supporting the war effort, the general attitudes of the day do illuminate on the then social mores that could readily translate into how difficult those men to rejoin their communities.

Many men failed the medial because of Invisible Disability, only to find them remonstrated with, openly, in public. They, along with those discharged with mental health problems, found themselves were often at the receiving end of ‘Spitting the White Feather’.
